1980 tarihli müzikal komedinin ana karakterleri ‘Joliet’ Jake Blues (John Belushi) ve Elwood Blues (Dan Aykroyd) kardeşler, Aykroyd ve Belushi’ nin 1978’ de kurdukları blues ve soul grubu “The Blues Brothers” ile “Saturday Night Live” TV programının müzikli skeçlerine dayanıyor. Filmde Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, Chaka Khan, John Lee Hooker gibi ünlü blues, soul ve r&b müzisyenlerinin performanslarını izliyoruz.
